About the role:

Due to significant projected growth, we’re looking to add a Software Engineering Manager to our team. In this critical role, you will provide technical and managerial leadership for our engineering teams, ensuring timely delivery of software that provides a delightful end-to-end experience for our customers. This position reports to the CTO.


  • Partner with senior management to own and drive core business initiatives. 
  • Evaluate technical solutions that contribute to the growth of the company. 
  • Manage and coach engineers to become proficient developers using best software development practices and processes. 
  • Analyze, design, and manage the delivery of maintainable code within a large, complex, and established code base. 
  • Participating in the design and review of features, technology choices, architecture, designs, time and budget estimates, and test strategies 
  • Partner closely with a variety of Stakeholders and Engineering to collaboratively plan, implement, and incrementally launch solutions for an Insurtech Platform
  • Ensure cross-training and a healthy balance between features and technical debt.
  • Pair with, unblock, and technically mentor engineers and leaders on your team.
  • Act as a role model to others on the team by exhibiting a strong work ethic and fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Be an advocate for your team across the organization, proactively looking for opportunities to leverage this team’s expertise.
  • Influence and engage with a highly skilled and experienced audience including C-level executives.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as a software engineer working on commercial web services.
  • 3+ years as a software engineering manager in an Agile environment (SCRUM preferred).
  • Experience developing large-scale, high traffic web applications, ideally using technologies like Node, PHP, React, Redux, or similar web technologies.
  • Experience with design and integration of APIs and web services such as REST and GraphQL.
  • Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) and MVC frameworks.
  • Experience maintaining highly available, fault-tolerant, and distributed services, including familiarity with technologies and architectures like microservices, managed services, AWS, Docker, New Relic, and Splunk.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
